Face Casting

This week we have been experimenting with plaster casting through various workshops. We started by using algrith powder and mit with water to create a latex mold into which we placed a variety of interestingly shaped objects. Once dry we removed said objects and poured in our liquid plaster, however many technical problems occured here. The main problem was mixing the correct amount of powder with the correct amount of water, but other problems included difficulty in removing the object and applying too much pressure to the mold resulting in a break. After waiting 30 minutes here is the finished project.
one student furthered his research and attempted a full face plaster cast. His face and hair was lathered in vaseline as to make sure the mold didnt cause hair loss or discomfort him when removing. For extra safety the person applying the mold was a teacher and another teacher was observing.
